Bayern Munich’s Michaël Cuisance flattered by Marseille interest

In an interview with L’Equipe, Bayern Munich midfielder Michaël Cuisance has said that he is flattered by the reported interest from Marseille ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Cuisance made the move to the German champions from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer and he has since experienced a tough debut campaign, where he has mostly been an unused substitute.

The 20-year-old has been restricted to only 15 appearances this term, but he managed to end the Bundesliga campaign on a high note last month with an assist and his maiden goal for the club in the 4-0 win over Wolfsburg.

The Frenchman has recently been linked with a possible loan return to Ligue 1 with Marseille this summer and Cuisance has acknowledged that he has been flattered by rumoured interest from Les Phoceens.

Cuisance would have the assurance of regular playing time with a temporary stint elsewhere, but he has stressed that he is only focused on Bayern at the current point of time.

“I saw that the club was interested and I’m flattered. They’re a legendary club that won the Champions League. I’m happy for them. But today I’m still concentrating on what I have to do. And that’s my project at Bayern,” He told.

Cuisance started three of Bayern’s last four league games of the season and he was played in the attacking midfield, right wing and central midfield positions in those matches.

The Strasbourg-born youngster has generally preferred to play in the number eight position, but he may have to settle for a deputy role, suppose he stays put with the club next term.

Thiago Alcantara and Javier Martinez are likely to head for the exit door during the upcoming transfer window with their existing contracts due to expire in less than 12 months’ time.

Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka have been the regular choices in the centre of the park under Hansi Flick since the restart and the duo have formed an impressive partnership.

Cuisance alongside Tolisso could as the back-up options for the pair next term. Meanwhile, Bayern also have the young Adrian Fein, who had an impressive loan season with Hamburger SV.

The 21-year-old made 33 appearances for the German second tier outfit. He could be promoted to the first-team squad at Bayern ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
